Operational Amplifiers are very simple and efficient components which have to inputs one of them inverting input and the other is non-inverting input (usually they are high gain inputs) and one output which gives the difference between the inputs.

Typical uses:

These components have large variety of uses such as difference amplifier, buffer for microphone, digital signal noise cleaner and so forth, there are also specific type of them which suppose to work with batteries and called Low Voltage Amplifiers.
